Site Status

This entire site is under construction.

I designed it working with a resolution of 800 by 600, partly because my vision is rather poor.

But if I succeed properly with fluid layouts, they should look good regardless of your resolution or mine.

Our public messages to visitors

Any private replies go by email, of course!

Dear Janouk,

Thanks for dropping in!

We read your stories from time to time on the Yahoo groups. We're a lot like you in many ways, even if we are a lot smaller. Delighted you were able to come and say hi!

        Kwali and Kumbi

Janouk: Please keep your distance! Be careful of my belly-up clawing routines!

Dear Chickadee,

Thanks for confirming you are who I thought you were. Indeed, we did grow up together, and fed chickadees out of our hands.

Welcome also to you, Daniel, Chickadee's compatriot!

It's nice that you share your joys with others.

Ahh, what fun!

Web Design Stuff[ing]

Not very long ago, I learned that web designers often use fake Latin text to put in while designing sites. That way, they don't have to type a whole bunch of text, and they can see how text to be put in later will behave on the page.

Well, I ask you, why bother with fake Latin? Why not real Latin: Pig Latin, for instance?

IgPay atinLay eemsSay eryVay aturalNay otay eMay.

And then there's that other fake language I heard for the first time when I was in high school. It had three syllables to every one in English, and it had a lovely bubbly sound to it, and when finally I learned to speak it, I was utterly enchanted. It was so much fun to speak it, or would that be, to sing it? Almost.

But wrack my brains as I might, I can't remember how it works.

Believe it or not, for you youngsters (anybody under 60), I think it's called oogly-googly. Does anybody know what it is, or how to speak it? If you do, please leave me a comment on the feedback page.

Or, if you prefer, you may

send me email

but to make sure you reach me, send it in plain text without any attachments.

Thanks!

Current Anecdote

I was doing my weekly shopping when Mona, the cashier whose line I was waiting in, said, to her current customer, "Don't let your grandson eat the hole in the doughnut; he'll get a tummy-ache."

Oh, my! I am helpless before such jokes, especially when presented as well as Mona presented it.

My helpless sense of humor shouldn't surprise anybody who has had much of a look around this site.

My Personal Site
My Mission
Whimsy, Fun and Attentiveness

This is my personal web site. I have - and plan - no other.

My mission here is to share with you my ways of seeing: whimsical, fun, and sometimes serious, but always with whimsy, for healthy perspective.

I enjoy writing tongue-in-cheek, and I leave it to you to discover what on this site is tongue-in-cheek.

Dogs in particular are a large part of my life. I hold the same values for them as I do for any other living creature.

I have a life-long passion for communication, whether with animals or humans.

I believe in paying attention to what life is all about: living to the best of our capabilities.

Coherent Dog Site Update News

Monday, 14 Feb 2005

I'm continuing work on layout, and learning every day.

You won't see the results of my learnings for some time, though, because there are so many different aspects I have to be able to understand before I can put them together. But really, I AM learning, so one day, things will suddenly change in appearance.

When IS One Day?

You expect me to know that?

HAHAHA!

Coherent Dog is registered

Our domain is registered, a year, today, from the day Graleta5, the machine that makes all this possible, came winging its way from Angel Donor to Our House. Our paws are tired from typing, but taking turns helps. We're still working on layout.

When Mum gets too confused, we go burrow in blankets, pillows, bedcovers, and make sure they get all tangled up, so Mum has to leave Graleta5 for a time. That lets her brain settle a bit. Then she has to take us out in the Garden for a while. Gets her a bit of fresh air. Or sometimes, rain.

We are, of course, perfectly coherent dogs, but we doubt her coherence as a human at times. She does best when she thinks she's a parrot, and parrots people's code.

Give her time; give her time, more of it with us, please.

Despite its registration, our site still isn't officially open. If you're here, it's by our catal and dogal invitations, or because Mum asked for help.

Welcome, anyway, from your cat and dog leaders, Prancy, Kwali and Kumbi.

The layouts here look WORST if you're using Internet Explorer

Sorry about that! We do plan to fix it for Internet Explorer; Mum just needs to learn how.

We could, though, recommend you download and try out our very favorite browser, Opera. You can find it at:

Opera Home Page

I like the Operabrowser so much that I made it my default browser, and I have to invoke self-discipline to use other browsers, though of course, I do it to update my Windows or to check the Coherent Dog site for compatibility with other browsers.

Lots of cats and dogs like Firefox, which you can find at

Firefox Home Page

Firefox will probably be easier to use for humans who have never used any browser other than Internet Explorer. You might like it so much you stay with it! There are advantages to using Opera or Firefox. These browsers are not particularly subject to attack by the people who invent ways to put spyware and other nasty things on your machine.

Also, both these browsers offer what is called "tabbed browsing," which means you can switch very fast between one web site and another while you're browsing.

If you want to see how Mum is thinking about layout. you can look at the Layout sketch we made for her.

The layout on this site continues to be very experimental.

We hope you have a good time exploring here anyway!

We validate all pages with W3C before putting them up, so your browsers should not break!

HEY! I remembered one of the languages!

You can find my treatise on it at

my ObyDoby page

is under construction, so at the moment, it's very simple and limited.

I'd be delighted if you would care to sign it anyway.
