Before you say that's odd

Consider the extreme peril Novie was in. The adrenaline rush and the subsequent flows of glucocorticoids change everything. Until the situation is no longer critical. It's only then that Vetsie and Novie, like any other healthy creature, remember they are afraid of spiders.

They are lucky it's Carlova who is their Friend-Spider, as she is particularly understanding and particularly capable.
