Vinni was resting for a change!

Vinni has been a busy, busy dog, from the day he was diagnosed with diabetes (8 December, 2009)- and likely, before that, too - but since then, over the holiday season, and right through January 2010 and well into February, he HAS been busy, visitng and hosting family and friends, and then also, early in February, with a dental, from his fabulous vet.

His four previous curves were mountain-shaped. But this time, Vinni surprised his Human DogMum with a Smiley!

After all, such a busy dog has to rest sometimes! Sort of like humans.

I couldn't graph how exercise dropped his glucose levels, because he didn't exercise today (27 Feb. 2010).

Oh, he DID give his Human DogMum a bit of a jolt!

[cvt30208-100227d29.jpg] Vinni typical mountain curve, 30 Jan 2010

Vinni has typically had mountain-shaped curves, quite like this one. These reflect how busy he is during a day, as he often plays with Sister Sasha in the mornings, and again in the afternoons.

Also, if he receives visitors at home, dog or human, he gets quite excited; he is, by nature a sociable dog, and not a quiet one! Or, if he's visiting with relatives or friends in their houses, he'll play with any dogs present, perhaps with the exception of very young puppies, who might turn him off a bit. Not all grown dogs love puppies!

No exercise periods are shown on this chart, as none were reported with the data; however, Vinni also had a Urinary Tract Infection brewing, and such a condition often throws glucose readings out of whack.

All the same, this curve is quite typical of Vinni, to date since diagnosis. His Human DogMum and his Fabulous Veterinarian are working together toward getting him regulated on his Novolin NPH insulin, with some commentary and assistance also from the excellent helpers on the k9diabetes online forum . (If you go there, you will need to use your browser's Back button to return here.)

Vinni went onto antibiotics (Clavaseptin), and the infection cleared up.
