Scooter BGs July-Aug

Scooter's chart 12 July-5 Aug 2011

[cw50723op-scooter1.jpg] Scooter curves 12 July-5 Aug 2011

Scooter about two months since diagnosis

Scooter started on 5 units of Humulin N, twice a day, and had his dose raised, unit by unit. He was on 9 units on 12 July 2011, and then went up to 10 on 26 July.

You can read about Scooter and many other diabetic dogs, on the k9diabetes online Forum. (You will need to use your browser's Back button to return here if you follow that link.)

Kumbi (from the Bridge), Vekkie and Camellia and I, all congratulate Janice, for learning to test Scooter's blood glucose herself, at home. Doing that is one of the greatest tools a HumanParent of a diabetic dog can have.

Good for you, Janice! Those curves will likely stabilize some as you go along, because you are working to keep things consistent. Consistency is one of the major useful elements in managing canine diabetes.

CLAIMER: Content here results from my personal experience, as instructed by my fabulous veterinarians and veterinary technicians, and also, as instructed by Kumbi. Even Kwali gets a word in edgewise. We use the Lip-Stick. There are other locations you can prick for blood; I do not myself use them, but there are web resources that show them.
