[cwj103-blooddrop.jpg] This drop is too perfect
Too bad this blood drop is artificial - it's almost a perfect circle. I painted it - not on Kumbi, but on the photograph.
I wanted to show the approximate size and location of the blood drop. The drop need not be quite as big as I've shown it, but it's easier to see this way.
With a little experience, I learned to determine when I was getting a usable sample. This is the time, waiting, when I use my free hand to pick up the meter, which has a test strip inserted just barely, not far enough to turn the meter on. With my free hand, I pull the test strip all the way into the meter. That turns the meter on.
My meter shuts off after two minutes. That can be awkward, as I need the test strip to be in the meter - to some extent - before I even lift the lip and fold it back against the upper jaw.
Thank you, Fran and Monica, for teaching me to insert that test strip partway, but not all the way! You saved me a LOT of test strips!
